Daniela Florescu
Dr. Daniela Florescu is a researcher at Oracle Corporation. With Jonathan Robie and Don
Chamberlin, Dana developed the Quilt query language. Quilt was the core language used as the basis for developing XQuery, the W3C XML Query
Language.
Dana is the author of numerous research papers, many with a
focus on query processing. She is Co-Editor of the W3C XML Query Language
specification.

software trends and the marriage of SQL/XML, web services and grid computing. We
subsequently interviewed her about XQuery and SQL. She discussed query
optimization, parallel execution of XQuery, whether "SQL is dead", and
what XQuery 2.0 needs to be a fully-featured language.
